Carpentry Skills Training
Our Longest Running Program
The carpentry program started in 2016. From that first program we had a standout student, Emmanuel Kamate, who is a former child soldier. Upon completing our program successfully reintegrating back into society, he decided to teach other children, many who had recently fled militias. Given the size of the space we can only train six youth in carpentry every six months. Thus far 96 youth have gone through this training and many now have jobs utilizing their new skills.
Our ambition is to have a larger space and enough materials to facilitate larger trainings as the demand for these skills is high amongst both former child soldiers and other youth affected by war. We have many graduates who are ready and able to replicate the impact Emmanuel is having.
